As a continued extension of options for parishes to show the support of and promotion for more priestly and religious vocations, we would like to offer a new program to all parishes call Spiritual Motherhood of Priests. Much like our efforts to have each of our seminarians spiritually adopted by a parish, this effort encourages women in particular to take on the role of spiritual mothers for our many priests and seminarians who are serving the local Church.
Read the Introduction to Spiritual Motherhood prepared by the parish who brought this effort to our attention, Immaculate Heart of Mary in Anderson Township, to learn more and to be inspired.
Below please find all the materials you will need to establish a branch of the Spiritual Motherhood for Priests in your parish.
Spiritual Motherhood Commitment Card– These can be handed to each woman who would like to become a spiritual mother. By signing this card, the woman makes a visible and concrete commitment to pray for the priest or seminarian she adopts.
Eucharistic Adoration for the Sanctification of Priests and Spiritual Maternity – Document written by the Congregation for the Clergy that speaks of the need for increased Eucharistic adoration for priests and for more spiritual mothers.
1, 2, 3, 4 Explanation Cards – Short, simple handouts that can be used to invite women to consider joining the prayer movement.
Please Take One Tent Cards – To be placed in a basket near the Spiritual Motherhood poster display along with the Explanation or Commitment cards
Please Pray for Me Tent Cards – To be placed in a basket near the Spiritual Motherhood poster display along with pictures of seminarians or priests of the Archdiocese.
Prayer of Thanks for our Priests – Prayer cards offering gratitude to God for our priests.
Morning Offering for Priests – Another prayer that can be prayed daily for our priests or seminarians.
