Name: Andrew Reckers
Home Parish: St. Jude, Bridgetown (Cincinnati, OH)
When did you enter Seminary? Fall 2013
What is your expected ordination year? 2020
Where are you currently studying? Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West, Cincinnati, OH
What are some of your favorite things to do? Some of my favorite activities include but are not limited to: Reading, playing recreational games such as cornhole and billiards, playing board and card games, and playing video games.
Do you struggle in your prayer life? If so, how do your respond to that struggle? Prayer is a daily struggle. In fact, the challenge of prayer is formidable enough to be described as a battle by the Catechism of the Catholic Church (see paragraphs 2725-2745 especially). My response to this struggle is to seek counsel from those who are wiser and more experienced than I am, especially my spiritual director. Also, regular reception of the Sacraments, especially Confession and the Eucharist, give me the grace needed to persevere in prayer.
Why did you enter seminary? My simplest answer is because I believe that Jesus Christ wants me to be in the seminary. The seminary is a place of vocational discernment. Therefore, I am in the seminary because I hope to know more clearly and specifically how God wants me to respond to His call to love.
