Do you struggle in your prayer life? How do you respond to that struggle? In some way or another, we all struggle in our prayer lives. For me at times, pray may become boring or I don’t know what’s going on because I don’t hear anything in prayer. And sometimes that can last awhile. I’m always reminded that no matter what, Jesus is just happy I come and pay Him a visit in church, or in a chapel, etc. I don’t have to say anything. Just being in His silent presence is enough. In time, He will speak. The following is a quote I like from Archbishop Luis M. Martinez from his book Only Jesus. He writes “‘What a pity that Jesus does not speak from the tabernacle; it would be so sweet to listen to His words!’” yet, at times “’’it is better that He does not speak, because with His silence He expresses perhaps better than His words the love that He professes for us.’” Silence is better than words. Just sitting in front of Him in the Blessed Sacrament, surrounded by silence, and knowing Jesus loves you so much suffices for any words that could be spoken. That’s a great reminder for me and a way I get through those rough moments in my own prayer life.
Why did you enter seminary? Since I was a kid, I felt a draw to the priesthood. I don’t know why me, but the Lord continually called me throughout grade school and high school that I had to respond. I had to give seminary a try. So six year later, after four years of college seminary and now in my second year at the major seminary, I continue on my path to follow God’s plan for me in this life of bringing Christ’s message to the world.
