VIS news – Holy See Press Office: PAPAL MESSAGE: PROPOSING VOCATIONS IN THE LOCAL CHURCH.

The link above directs to the Vatican Press Office’s release of Pope Benedict’s message for the world day of prayer for vocations.  As you can see, of particular emphasis this year is promotion of vocations in the local church: parish and diocese.

In my time in the Vocation Office, both Archbishops Pilarczyk and Schnurr have greatly stressed this approach: vocations are not grown from somewhere else, they come from homes and families currently in our midst.  They come from forming our young people to be strong, faithfilled disciples of Christ who have built up the habit of constantly saying ‘YES!’ to Our Lord.

I’m glad to see the Holy Father agrees!  😉
