The following is a list of all the religious vocation-related upcoming events happening in and around the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Thanks goes to the Serra Club of Greater Cincinnati for their efforts at collecting all the information for these events:
MARCH 23-25: PONTIFICAL COLLEGE JOSEPHINUM SPRING LIVE-IN
High school aged men who are discerning their call to the priesthood are invited to attend the Pontifical College Josephinum Spring-Live in from March 23-25. Men will have the chance to pray, eat and attend classes with current seminarians as well as get the chance to hear all about life in the seminary and the formation process. MARCH 24: Vigil Praise
The men of Mount St. Mary’s of the West Seminary will be hosting their quarterly Vigil Praise evening of Eucharistic Adoration and social on Friday, March 24th. The holy hour will begin at 7:00pm and will end with benediction at 8:00pm. Fr. Jason Williams, parochial vicar at St. Cecilia, St. Anthony and St. Margaret/St. John will be the presider and will preach on Mary’s Fiat on the eve of the feast of the Annunciation. There will be social following benediction. Men, women, and children of all ages are welcome and encouraged to come individually or as families. There is no cost for this event.
March 24-26: Marianist Discernment Retreat

March 30-April 1: Congregation of the Holy Cross Come & See Weekend
The Congregation of Holy Cross welcomes high school juniors to a weekend at Old College, the undergraduate seminary on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, March 30 – April 1, 2017. March 31-April 2: Live Joyfully Retreat
The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary of the Woods is hosting a weekend discernment retreat for women ages 18-42 at their motherhouse in Saint Mary of the Woods, IN. The retreat is free. APRIL 1: Run for the Call Spaghetti Dinner
Come out to St. Remy Hall in Russia, OH on Saturday, April 1 from 5-7pm for a great opportunity to show your support for our seminarians while enjoying a spaghetti dinner featuring the secret spaghetti sauce made by Fr. Martin Fox, pastor of St. Remy. There is no official cost for the dinner but all donations are accepted and 100% of the proceeds go directly to support our seminarians in financial need.
April 1-2: Discernment Retreat with Dominican Sisters Mary, Mother of the Eucharist
The Dominican Sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist are once again offering a weekend discernment retreat for all young women ages 16-32 who are discerning a call to the consecrated life. April 3-5: Praying with St. Teresa of Calcutta: An Evening with Susan Conroy
The Serra Club of Cincinnati is bringing in Susan Conroy, author, to speak on her 10 year personal relationship with St. Teresa of Calcutta and the lessons she learned about Love, Mercy and Joy from this modern day saint. All are invited to join any of the following presentations that all begin at 7:00 PM:

April 7-9: Glenmary Home Missioners Come and See Retreat
Men ages 15-19 are invited to visit with Glenmary priests and brothers, travel to a nearby mission, and share in community prayer and reflection. April 13: CHOSEN: MONTHLY HOLY HOUR FOR VOCATIONS
CHOSEN: Monthly Holy Hour for those discerning a Vocation or praying for Vocations – April 13, beginning at 8pm at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center in Norwood OH. Sponsored by the Archdiocese Vocations Office and the Children of Mary. Chosen: Every 2nd Thursday of the Month. Come and bring a friend!
April 13-16: Legionaries of Christ Spring Discernment Program
The Legionaries of Christ is offering a program that offers men a condensed, lived experience of Legionary life – charism, prayer, community, and apostolate – to aid them in deciding potential steps in the Legion. The program is open to men who are seniors in high school or older and who are discerning a call to the Legionaries of Christ. For more details click on the link above or contact Fr. April 21-22: South Bend’s Got Sisters
Spend 24 hours visiting and praying with Sisters from a variety of religious communities. Come experience community life, while asking questions about discernment and getting answers in real time. APRIL 26: R U CALLED: DINNER FOR WOMEN DISCERNING CONSECRATED LIFE
Young women juniors in high school and older are invited to a great discernment opportunity on Wednesday, April 26 from 5-8pm. Women will hear from Sr. Tracy Kemme, SC and Jacquie Lustig, RC as well as from Archbishop Schnurr. APRIL 29: TRANSITIONAL DIACAONATE ORDINATION
On Saturday, April 29th at 11am at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains, the Archdiocese will celebrate the diaconate ordination of five men: Mr. Craig Best, Mr. Jarred Kohn, Mr. Nicholas White, Mr. Jacob Willig, and Mr. Andy Smith. These men will become transitional deacons, which means they will continue their formation toward the holy priesthood after their ordination. Please join us in praying for these men.
May 1: Religious Brother’s Day
For the first time, on the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, the Church in the United States is celebrating the vocation to the religious brotherhood. May 4: Server Recognition Reds Game 2017
The Serra Club of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Reds are once again teaming up to provide an opportunity for parishes to recognize the many young men and women who serve the parish as altar servers or sacristans. Parishes are encouraged to contact Ryan Kirkpatrick at the Reds ticket office at 513-765-7457 to reserve tickets for $5 per person in your group. Just mention the Serra Club. Parishes may also obtain “Server Recognition Certificates” from the Serra Club by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
MAY 7: WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
Today the Church throughout the world prays for consecrated vocations. Will you make a special effort to ask the Lord for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life?
- Pray for the priests who have ministered to you throughout your life, both living and dead.
- Keep our parish priests in your prayers throughout the week.
- Encourage your children, grandchildren, or other young people to consider a vocation as a priest or religious brother or sister.
Pray a rosary for more young men and women in our diocese to respond to God’s call.
May 19-21: Called to Love Discernment Retreat

MAY 20: ARCHDIOCESAN ORDINATIONS
On Saturday, May 20th at 11am at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains, Archbishop Dennis Schnurr will ordain to the Order of the Priesthood three men: Rev. Mr. David Doseck, Rev. Mr. Peter Langenkamp, and Rev. Mr. Alexander Witt. The ordination mass is open to all and we encourage all to experience this beautiful liturgy. Please join us in praying for these men.
